49 Acres Protected with VES Land Trust in 2022
In October of 2022, Earl Frederick and Terry Thompson donated a conservation easement on Rock Bottom Farm, 49 acres, to Virginia Eastern Shore Land Trust. The conservation easement protects 26 acres of farmland, 11 acres of mixed growth forest, 7 acres of marsh, and nearly a .5 mile of vegetated waterfront along Bundick Creek and a perennial stream.
“After living on the Shore for 20 years in a ‘postage stamp’ starter home, we often imagined finding our own piece of land. Then, in 1996, this beautiful property found us. While neither of us had ever lived on a farm, let alone owned a farm, the quiet and natural beauty of this piece of property has been nothing short of a dream, and has become our little ‘ark.’ It has long been our hope to somehow protect and conserve what we love, and the Land Trust has given us that opportunity. It is such a comforting feeling to know that our little gem will be preserved as a seaside farm habitat into the future,” shared Earl and Terry.
